Yesterday, the state government issued a press release allowing the wearing of face shields in trade again.
"Against the background of the described experiences from practice and as a result of the joint discussion, the Ministry of Health clarifies that the wearing of face shields by salespersons and in gastronomy is possible under these conditions (distance rules)."
(Press release RLP 8.6.2020)
But face shields are still only permitted for private use in exceptional cases.
The back and forth is really frustrating, especially since Hesse recognised face shields as an equivalent alternative a week earlier.
The best thing would be a uniform regulation like in Austria, where face shields are considered an alternative to masks throughout the country.
